Q + A

General

What is the dress code?

The dress code for the wedding is "cocktail attire". Cocktail attire is generally categorized as more formal than a sundress and less formal than a ball gown. Acceptable options include modest midi-dresses, suits, pantsuits, blouses and slacks, and button-ups with a tie. Please no denim. Please no white.

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Our ceremony at Promontory Point will be indoors at the Field House. The Field House is a short walk from the main park entrance, under tree cover. The Field House will not have A/C but will be indoors and have plenty of ventilation and water on premises. In the event of very inclement weather, you will be provided with umbrellas during the short walk to the Field House. The reception at the Museum of Science and Industry will be in the Henry Crown Space Center which has an attached outdoor garden area. In the event of inclement weather, the garden will be closed off and we will only use the indoor space.

Can I bring my children?

Due to space restrictions at our venues, we sadly cannot accommodate children under the age of ten.

Day-Of Guidance

Am I allowed to take photos at the wedding?

Our ceremony will be "unplugged". We want to see your faces and not your cameras. Please turn off all cell phones and put down any electronic devices. Our skilled photographer will take all the photos. We will happily share these photos with you after our event. After the ceremony, you are free to take photos at the reception.

Where will I park for the wedding?

We will have uber vouchers and shuttles available for day-of travel. If you want to drive, there are few options available. For the ceremony, you can park at the local SP+ parking lot (5575 S Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60615) for small fee to get closer to the venue and have a shorter walk. You can also park in the underground parking lot at the Museum of Science and Industry for free. However, there will be a 10-15 minute walk from MSI to the ceremony site. The reception at the Museum of Science and Industry will have free parking in their underground lot.

Will there be a time gap between the ceremony and reception?

No, our reception at MSI will begin immediately following our ceremony at Promontory Point.

Accomodations

Are your venues accessible for persons with disability?

Our venues were selected because they would allow all of our loved ones to attend comfortably. Please read on for particular steps we've taken. Our ceremony site is on a flat plot of developed land. The walkway from the parking lot to the Field House is flat, paved, and completely step free. The Field House has a step free entrance and step free bathrooms for those with mobility concerns. Our reception venue, the Museum of Science and Industry, is fully accessible and ADA compliant including bathrooms, elevators, and event experiences. 21c Museum Hotel Chicago has an elevator and ADA compliant rooms for those with disability. If you need additional accommodations, please reach out to us.

Where can I stay in Chicago?

We have a reserved hotel block at the 21c Museum Hotel Chicago. See the "Accommodations & Travel" page for more information about getting a room in our block. If our hotel block becomes fully booked, we recommend booking hotels in the River North neighborhood or around the University of Chicago campus for proximity to wedding party or ceremony location.

Food and Drink

What food will be served at the reception?

Our reception will have staffed buffet stations culminating into a sit-down dinner. We are drawing culinary inspiration from our wedding location in Chicago, but will have a wide variety of entrees (both meat and vegetarian) and sides to choose from. If you have any dietary concerns about the menu, please reach out to us. We want to feed you!

Will there be an open bar?

We will have an open bar serving wine and beer the first half of the reception.

Miscellaneous

What will your new name be?

Nobody will be changing their name. Both parties will leave the wedding with same name they were born with. Both parties should be addressed with their birth name regardless of marriage status. Thank you.
